A beautiful early Worcester "Smokey Primitive" porcelain tea bowl in the "L'Amour" pattern, dating to c1755.

This is a popular and highly collectable design, characterized by an on-glaze black enamel transfer print, originally engraved by Robert Hancock. It features a courting couple, a fountain, and a garden roller to the outside of the tea bowl and a small swan to the inside.

The porcelain is known as "smokey primitive" - being of early production and smokey grey in appearance.

Condition: there are a few fleabite chips to the rim, which do not detract. Otherwise in very good condition.

No factory markings.
