A rare saucer with spectacular orange marbled decoration, produced by William Billingsley at his decorating studios in Mansfield.

He did not produce any porcelain himself while at Mansfield, but bought porcelain from other factories "in the white" to be decorated by himself and a small group of artists. This piece is of French manufacture.

It has seen a little damage - there is a star crack to the centre, and a hairline to the back of the saucer which does not show through.

Fresh to the market, as this has been in my own collection for many years.

For an identical saucer, but with a landscape, please see the photos. There are several pieces in this pattern in the museum at Mansfield.
