A rare Derby porcelain plate with central study of a blue cornflower, the work of premier artist, William Billingsley.The plate dates to c1790 and is of Duesbury's fine duck egg porcelain. The piece carries its pattern number, no. 76, given by W. D. John as being a pattern designated to Billingsley.Although more famous for his roses, Billingsley's painting of this cornflower is second to none.In fine order with just a little wear to gilding and a few utensil marks commensurate with age.
