A very pretty and interesting Coalport sugar box or sucrier, dating to c1810.

The sugar box is lidded, has ring handles, and is decorated with hand painted pink roses, set amongst gold trellis gilding - identical to the Derby factory's Tea Pattern 626.

It is not a pattern that was used at Coalport, so there are two options - either the sugar box was decorated at Coalport as a special order for replacements to a Derby service, or the porcelain was bought "in the white" to be decorated by someone outside of the factory.

It measures 4.75 inches long, 3.75 inches wide and 5.25 inches tall. In good condition, save for some restored damage at the rim, close to one of the ring handles, and an associated long hairline crack. The damage is not visible on display, and would make a fine addition to a porcelain collection.

No factory markings.
