A fabulous Derby shell shaped dish with a fine botanical study of "Whorled Coreopsis" and "running roses" around the rim, all the work of foremost Derby artist, William Billingsley. Derby Plate Pattern 142.

Marks are strangely in puce, but in places they are over-written in blue. Gilder's number 4 for William Yates in puce at the footrim.

Condition is excellent, the only flaws to be noted are: some wear to upper gilt band around the rim, to dentil gilding and a little on the shell handle. A little glaze bubbling to one small area to the underside of the dish.
