A fabulous early Derby sauce boat, dating to c1755-58.
Moulded with overlapping cut leaves, with curled stem handle.  There is a red applied flower just below the "cut" end of the stem and a large applied pink bud and leaves to the reverse side.  The body of the sauce-boat decorated with hand painted flower sprays and sprigs by the "Cotton Stem Painter."
Four firing faults to the inside rim, which have been decorated over with further painted flowers and leaves, adding to its charm.  
No factory marks.  Very good condition.  Length approx. 6.75 inches, handle height 4.25 inches.  Partially ground foot rim.
