A very attractive early Derby plate, decorated in the Chinese taste, known as the "Kylin" pattern.  The plate is decorated on both sides, the front featuring mythical beasts in cloud shaped reserves, and with intricate patterns using Imari colours and superb gilding.
This is Plate Pattern 3 in the Derby Pattern Books and dates to c1780.
Marked with mock Chinese mark to the base.  In excellent condition throughout.
