A fine Derby tea cup and saucer in tea pattern 69, dating to c1790.  Decorated with two bands of Smith's Blue - a narrower one at the rim with gilt line and dentil gilding and a broader one with raised white enamel dots and gilt florets.  
Central blue band intertwined with foliate gilding.  A very attractive and elegant set.  Small gilt spray to centre of saucer and to the inside base of cup.
Both marked in puce and with pattern number N69 also in puce to cup.  Cup has impressed "P".
The gilt sprig to the centre of the saucer has some wear and there is a small flat chip to the enamels. It may have blue long tailed 7 in blue (very faint) for William Billingsley as the gilder - there is no other gilder's numbers.  I have included a picture of the "7" for you to better ascertain this.
Cup has wear to gilt sprig to the inside base and some loss of gilding around the rim. Cup has gilder's number 3 for William  Cooper.
