A very attractive two handled cup or chocolate cup in blue "vandyke" pattern, Tea Pattern 80, c1790.
Beautiful Smith's Blue around the rim over which are decorated delicate white enamel beads, interspaced  between  interlocking circles with gilt dots.  Teardrop gilding over the remaining white ground.
The saucer with raised well, highlighted with dentil gilding and a gilt band, and with further dentil gilding to the rim of the saucer and cup.
Factory mark in puce, pattern number 80 and gilder's number 4 for William Yates to both.  Excellent condition other than a crack to the saucer (pictured).
