A Chelsea saucer dish from the gold anchor period, c1765, decorated in a "Hope Edwardes" style pattern, consisting claret ground over which is the most elaborate net gilding, along with beautiful, delicate tooled gilt flowers and leaves. The white ground decorated with a hand painted bouquet of summer flowers and smaller sprigs.

The dish does have three small chips at the rim and some wear to the enamels, but this does not detract from the beauty or rarity of this piece. Possibly bought as a replacement for a Worcester service.

Marked with gold anchor to the base.
