Very pretty Chelsea Derby teapot, dating to c1770. Acanthus moulding, with garland of hand painted summer flowers in polychrome enamels above the moulded detail. Further flower sprays appear either side of the spout.
The lid similarly decorated and featuring a most attractive chrysanthemum knop.
The body of the teapot is in excellent condition, other than a little wear to the gilding of the handle. The lid with a small hole in the flange that sits inside the teapot, perhaps a firing fault. Not detrimental to the piece or visible on display.
Marked with conjoined anchor and D in gold.
